Yoko Kohmoto (she/her) is an eldest daughter of immigrants, a Leo, and an independent producer-writer based in NYC. Her producing work has been showcased at Tribeca Festival, Aspen Shortsfest, Palm Springs ShortFest, Vimeo Staff Pick, Short of the Week, Frameline, American Black Film Festival, and CAAMFest, among others. Her priorities as a producer are to build community, ensure safety, and uplift marginalized voices. In 2024, she started a monthly mixer for women and nonbinary artists of color in the NYC film industry, and she has built a corresponding digital community that has gathered overly 500 members.  She has spoken on panels with organizations like GLAAD and Film at Lincoln Center. She holds an MFA in Film and a BS in Communication Studies. Yoko also currently runs educational programming at The Gotham Film & Media Institute and serves on the Advisory Board at Northwestern University's School of Communication.
